Biometric Security for the Desktop
Access control solutions for data protection and ePrescribe
The weakest link in an organization’s IT security system, passwords and tokens are vulnerable to being lost and stolen. The costs associated with managing password- and token-based systems can be expensive and wasteful of company resources.
Now KSI customers can harness the power of fingerprint biometric security with one of three pro-grade 500 dpi fingerprint sensor options. KSI partners with leading component manufacturers to offer rugged identity management solutions that withstand heavy repeat use in commercial and healthcare settings. KSI integrated biometrics makes user authentication and reauthentication foolproof and simple — allowing the freedom to easily manage the who, what, where, and when of physical access control security. KSI biometric keyboards and standalone pods are the ideal solution for:
- access control
- secure logon using leading single sign on solutions
- safeguarding of protected health information
- fraud detection and prevention
- adherence to ePrescribe standards using Imprivata® Confirm ID
- FIPS compliance
- SAP® access management
- elimination of lost and stolen passwords
- multipurpose functionality through one USB port
- multifactor authentication when combined with RFID and/or Confirm ID
- hands-free mobile authentication using Imprivata® Confirm ID
KSI Biometric Security Enables ePrescribe
With doctor shopping now a pervasive problem, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has set forth Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS) regulation designed to minimize the use of controlled substances and overdose related to over-prescribing. The DEA outlines specific requirements to which healthcare providers and pharmacies must adhere, one being a mandate that prescribers use two factor authentication when signing electronic prescriptions. KSI HIPAA-compliant biometric keyboards and pods provide the first factor of two factor authentication in meeting the DEA’s EPCS electronic prescription requirements.
Use of top-ranked Imprivata® Confirm ID provides the second, and ensures an auditable chain of trust for the entire EPCS process — from identity proofing and credential enrollment, to integration with EHR and prescription signing applications. KSI embedded low-energy Bluetooth supports utilization of Confirm ID and enables time-saving, hands-free mobile authentication for health system providers.
KSI biometric security keyboards with embedded Bluetooth, together with Imprivata® Confirm ID, provides a seamless and comprehensive ePrescribe solution.
